Foster Care Parents
Job Qualifications
Must be able to be licensed as a foster home by the State of Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services. Must successfully complete 28 hours of foster parent training plus an additional 21 hours of specialized training to deal with the needs of children with behavioral and emotional needs. Must be willing and able to work as a part of a treatment team to provide for the needs of a child placed in your home.
Provide a safe and nurturing environment for a child. Provide for basic needs such as nutritional meals, appropriate clothing, and appropriate housing with space for his/her possessions. Provide or arrange for transportation to school and various appointments. Teach basic skills such as proper health and hygiene, social skills, and life skills. Must be physically and mentally able to provide care and supervision of children with high needs. Must be willing to complete daily and monthly paperwork. Must support and carry out the treatment, service and visitation plan.
Finger printing and criminal checks must come back with little to no infractions and a comprehnsive home study will need to be completed prior to the licensing of a foster parent's home. Individuals trained for this position are not considered employees of the agency. They are private contractors and are paid a standardized stipend that is established based on the level of youth placed in the foster home.
