Foster Care Coordinator
Job Qualifications
To fill the position of Foster Care Coordinator qualified candidates will posses a Master's Degree in social work or a related field in addition to a Mental Health Practitioner license in the State of Nebraska. The Foster Care Coordinator is supervised by the Chief Operating Officer which may include but are not limited to the following duties:
- Individualize child placements to ensure the most appropriate and successful matches.
- Determine foster parent reimbursement rates based on a standardized pay scale and inform Chief Operating Officer.
- Delegate necessary tasks to supervisory staff and specialists within the Foster Care Programs.
- Assign all clients to appropriate staff members in an efficient and timely manner while maintaining acceptable full time equivalent ratios.
- Coverage for all Foster Care program employees as needed.
- Maintain licensing with the appropriate entities (State of Nebraska) and compliance with Nebraska Medicaid and other funding sources as appropriate.
- Obtain and maintain contract information and keep the contracts/Medicaid numbers current at all times (including agency based step down contract.)
- Enforce all staff's job descriptions and Visinet, Inc.'s Employee Manual and initiate appropriate discipline when necessary.
- Provide crisis management between Foster Care staff and foster parents as necessary.
- Problem solve crisis situations in an efficient and effective manner.
- Participate in the interview process and implement creative recruiting techniques of foster parents to keep the program at the highest level of quality and competitive at all times.
- Complete the necessary documentation (including home studies) for new foster parents to become and remain licensed with the State of Nebraska or delegate to staff as necessary.
- Participate in the termination process of employees.
- Collaborate with Clinical Director on all clinical issues related to clients and the clinical service provision performed by staff.
- Coordinate training of employees and provide on-going training as necessary.
- Assess appropriateness of on-going foster parent training and modify curriculum when necessary.
- Enforce accountability among staff and foster parents, and adherence to the Employee Manual (for staff) as well as following the emergency protocol for suicide/homicide, abuse/neglect and other potential safety issues.
- Communicate needs of client to the consulting psychiatrist as well as assisting with the necessary documentation to schedule new and on-going patients with the consulting psychiatrist.
- Ensure that staff is maintaining clinically appropriate interventions with their clients at all times.
- Coordinate staff on-call schedule.
- Complete 8 hours of Mandt training
- Complete CPR training or recertification for CPR training.
- Enforce compliance with Nebraska Medicaid and retain knowledge of Chapter 32 of the Mental Health and Substance Abuse manual at all times.
- Conduct Medicaid eligibility checks on all clients at the beginning of every month.
The average starting salary for this position is $34,000. Additional compensation may be applicable based upon educational and professional experience. Full-time employees are eligible for benefits as outlined in the Employee Manual.
