Crisis Intervention
Definition
Crisis Intervention Services are designed to provide parents and youth with the educational assistance necessary for reunification or stabilization. A Certified Family Support Worker (FSW) offers parents and/or family members specific tools to enhance family development and the attainment of stabilization before the removal of children occurs.
Areas of support and education include but are not limited to: self-sufficiency, parenting skills, communication, stress management, household structure, as well as appropriate consequences/behavior management, budgeting and nutrition. The FSW also connects the family to any available community resources that may assist them in overall functioning such as housing and employment. Family support can be provided to an identified family member or to the entire family.
How do I access services?
Formal acceptance of a case requires the completion of a referral, a current authorization and all of the collateral documentation as explained by the State Services Coordinator.
Crisis Intervention is typically authorized for 14-days with extensions of up to 14-days (and beyond as approved by the referral source).
What are the Criteria?
The family or youth must be currently involved with Nebraska Health and Human Services (NHHS), Integrated Care Coordination Unit (ICCU) or with the Region.
Payment?
Services can begin once a service referral with an accompanied authorization is sent to the Visinet, Inc. office containing valid dates of service and incompliance with the guidelines set forth in the NHHS Family Support contract.
