BEHAVIORAL LEARNING CENTER - TEACHER ASSISTANT
JOB DESCRIPTION
Division: Behavioral Health Services Date: September 17 2009 FLSA Status:Non-Exempt
Maintain a strengths based approach while working with youth and guardians to assist in the retention of dignity and the development of positive intrinsic qualities. Activities with BLC youth should directly correlate to the goals and objectives from the individualized Behavior Modification Plan that the BLC staff is focusing on with the child while attending the BLC.
Assists the youth/guardian in obtaining the identified goals.
Is flexible to schedule changes and days required to work.
Supports and promotes programs within Visinet, Inc. and mediates conflicts with community contacts to preserve the reputation and perception of consumers and stakeholders.
Assists in maintaining the child in his/her placement at the BLC.
Consistently reviews Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) plan and makes sure that all is being carried out within the program on a daily basis by all employees.
Ensures that Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards are maintained throughout the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Review youth progress and discuss any concerns with BLC Manager.
Attend required in-service meetings to obtain required amount per employment (twelve (12) per calendar year. Plus and additional 36 hours per child care contract.
Attend bi-weekly staff meetings with BLC Manager to discuss any issues or concerns that may be happening at the center.
Complete daily progress note that will be sent home to guardian regarding youth’s progress with their Care plan. Document on daily progress note specific activities that youth participated in and how youth handled themselves during this activity.
Complete a monthly time management plan and submit to the BLC Manager upon turning in time logs. (Any changes in this schedule should be reported to the BLC Manager).
Complete long term mediation form for each child when they need medication administered while attending the BLC.
Follow Care Plans for all youth.
Complete collateral logs for every contact regarding a youth as needed.
Complete incident reports and submit to the BLC Manager within twenty-four (24) business hours after incident.
Complete payroll timesheets accurately and submit to the BLC Manager by the requested deadline.
Complete all necessary assessments and outcome measures, as dictated by program, within time frames outlined in the Program Specific Manual.
Determine, based on the interactions throughout the day, the level of learning a child has achieved on targeted goals and objectives.
Administer prescribed medication per parent request while youth is attending the BLC.
Establish a working relationship and rapport with BLC youth/guardian.
Provide planned interventions (i.e. teaching, coaching, practicing, role-playing, affirmation, etc.) based on the BLC individualized behavior modification plan.
Provide the necessary outcome measures’ information to the BLC Manager and COO.
Adhere to the emergency protocol (found in the Employee Manual) in the event that a client or individual associated with the client discloses abuse/neglect information.
Maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality with client(s) and families, as well as, all of the other policies and procedures.

External: Continual Contact with parents; staff and all other professional & community representatives.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND WORK REQUIREMENTS
Education
Required: Two years college courses in Human Services
Desired:
Experience
Required: Minimum of 2years working with at risk children and families.
Desired:
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Clear Criminal History Background and Adult/Child Abuse checks, as well as all program specific certifications, Model specifics, NCI, First Aid/CPR, Car Restraint, Defensive Driving, clearance from all background checks and drug screens (Trainings offered by Visinet, Inc.)
Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Working knowledge of computer with programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of child and family service systems. Inter-workings of Health and Human Services processes beneficial.
Working Conditions: Basic controlled environment in office setting. Some field contacts may be required one occasion.
